Technical Trails
Feb 13th 2008
1. Hall Ranch, Lyons: a roughly mile-long rock garden provides a variety of technical challenges, both climbing and descending. The red-rimmed cliffs around the area make you feel like you’ve taken a trip to the southwest. Then the upper loop of this lollipop trail is smooth and fast with more trees, so you get a taste of everything.
2. Little Raven and South St. Vrain, near Brainard Lake: I haven’t ridden Little Raven yet, although I helped to build a section of it. It’s deep in the forest, with tight trees and snug maneuvers. South St. Vrain is its own animal, with huge boulders rising out of the trail like bears coming out of hibernation. This section requires techniques you don’t learn anywhere else around here.
3. Uhhh….is that it?? Sigh. Let’s pack up for Canada. Universal health care to boot. (Email me if I’m forgetting something here.)
